Natural Vitamin E is a fat soluble vitamin and is absorbed in the intestines. The natural form of Vitamin E (d-alpha tocopherol) is preferentially absorbed over synthetic Vitamin E (dl-alpha tocopherol). Vitamin E participates in numerous biochemical processes in the body; one of its most important functions is that of an antioxidant.

Common food sources of Vitamin E are cold pressed vegetable oils especially wheat germ oil, nuts and seeds. Egg yolks, sweet potato, soy beans, butter and milk are also natural food sources of Vitamin E. Unfortunately, cooking these food sources results in approximately 55% loss of Vitamin E.

Natural Vitamin E supplements provide the following health benefits:

  • Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant and free radical scavenger
  • Helps maintain healthy cardiovascular and circulatory system
  • Reduces oxidation of LDL cholesterol
  • Beneficial for healthy skin and minor skin disorders

Cellular Health and Antioxidants

  • Vitamin E is one of nature’s most potent antioxidants. The fatty acids in the lipid membranes of cells are particularly vulnerable to oxidative breakdown by free radicals in the cell. Vitamin E can interrupt this oxidative process, protecting the cell membrane fatty acids from oxidative damage. Damage to the cell membrane changes the ability to allow the appropriate entry of beneficial substances into the cell and also prevents the membrane from protecting against harmful substances from entering the cell.
  • Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant and free radical scavenger. Free radicals can be generated by dietary and lifestyle factors such as excessive dietary fats, cigarette smoke, alcohol consumption, environmental pollutants as well as normal metabolism.
  • Free radicals are highly reactive and capable of damaging DNA, protein, carbohydrates and lipids

Cardiovascular/Circulatory Health

  • Vitamin E reduces the oxidation of LDL cholesterol (often referred to as - bad cholesterol).
  • LDL oxidation in the artery walls seems to be a key factor in plaque development. Reducing LDL oxidative plaque buildup may help keep arteries clear assisting the blood to flow smoothly
  • In 2007 a study on physical education students found that daily consumption of vitamin E and vitamin C, and a combination of vitamin E and vitamin C for a period of 3 weeks significantly improved aerobic power.

Skin Health

  • May assist in the healing of minor skin disorders and wound healing
  • Helps maintain a healthy skin complexion
  • When adequate vitamin E intake is not available the cells are more vulnerable to oxidative attack and damage. Taking MICROgenics Vitamin E 500IU reduces the risk of Vitamin E deficiency.
