In Australia, adults on average suffer from 2-4 colds every year. Women, especially those aged 20 to 30, have more colds than men. Children have the highest rates experiencing about 6-10 colds per year through close contact with each other in school and day care.

The common cold is spread by hand contact or through the air e.g. via sneezing. The incubation period of the common cold varies but is usually quick at under two days.

Cold symptoms such as a sore throat, fever, sneezing, a blocked or runny nose, and cough typically peak at day 1-3, but can last up to 2 weeks; and are the leading cause for missed days from work. Garlic has a long traditional use of supporting the immune system during colds.
Scientific research has shown that garlic preparations can significantly reduce
the incidence of colds and speed up recovery; and show that those who take a
garlic supplement for 12 weeks, may take only 1.5 days to recover from their cold
compared to the average 5 days people usually take3. Other research showed
that supplementing with Garlic for 12 weeks can help reduce the incidence of
developing a second cold by around 50%4.

Vitamin C to support the immune system
Vitamin C is widely used to prevent and treat symptoms of the common cold
because of its ability to support and strengthen the immune system. Many studies
have shown that vitamin C can help reduce the duration of colds5, and now there
is strong evidence that over 1 gram (1,000mg) per day of vitamin C can shorten
the duration of colds in children by 18% and in adults by 8%6. Other research
shows that supplementing with Vitamin C halved the number of colds physically
active people developed7.

Fenugreek to relieve a sore throat
Fenugreek can help support the immune system8,9 and relieve a sore throat10.

Marshmallow root to sooth coughs
Marshmallow root is used to relieve pain and inflammation of the mucous
membranes that line the respiratory tract. It also contains ingredients that loosen
mucous in the respiratory tract and inhibit bacteria from replicating. This can help
sooth a cough that often accompanies the common cold11,12,13.

Horseradish to relieve nasal congestion
Horseradish has been used for centuries in combination with other ingredients
such as garlic to help relieve symptoms of the common cold. Scientific research
shows that horseradish, due to its high sulphur content, it has antimicrobial
properties and can help relieve nasal congestion during the common cold14.

Allium sativum (Garlic) fresh bulb 1.5g (1,500mg)
