Project Description

Supports energy production
Magnesium plays an essential role in the production of energy. Each single cell
in our body has a powerhouse called a mitochondria where energy is produced.
If magnesium levels are below optimal, the cell has an impaired capacity to
produce energy.1

Supports healthy muscle function
Magnesium plays an important role in muscle relaxation. If magnesium levels
are below optimal, muscles can have difficulty relaxing. This could cause
muscle cramps and spams, which can be very painful. This is why magnesium
supplementation may be beneficial for those suffering from muscle cramps such
as leg cramps.2,3

Menstrual cramps are a widespread problem and are caused by muscles in the
uterus (womb) contracting.4 Below optimal levels of magnesium may cause the
muscles in the uterus and lower abdominal area to cramp. A number of clinical
studies have shown that supplementing with magnesium can be effective to treat
menstrual cramps and lower back pain, if taken for six months.5,6

The amino acid taurine protects muscles against damage and helps to remove
waste products that lead to fatigue and cause muscles to burn.29 Studies show
that it can help reduce muscle soreness during exercise.30, 31

Supports bone health
Magnesium is important for bone health in several ways. It is vital to convert
Vitamin D into its active form.25,26 It is a well-known fact that Vitamin D is
necessary to transport calcium from the digestive tract into the blood; and
observational studies show a link between low Vitamin D levels and an increased
risk of osteoporosis and bone fractures.27,28

Magnesium also stimulates the hormone calcitonin. This hormone draws calcium
out of the blood and soft tissues back into the bones, which helps lower the likelihood of osteoporosis.
Finally, low magnesium levels have a negative impact on the formation of new bone cells.27

Supports nervous system health
Stress support – Magnesium works in many ways to support the nervous
system. When we are stressed, our bodies produce more stress hormones such
as cortisol. This can create feelings of anxiety, memory loss, ‘brain fog’ and mood
disorders such as depression.14,15

Magnesium can restrict the release of stress hormones such as cortisol16 and
thus help relieve any of the above symptoms associated with stress.

Helps improve moods
Magnesium plays an important role in mood regulation due to its involvement
in the production of neurotransmitters. Magnesium stimulates the production
of acetylcholine. Low levels of acetylcholine are associated with aggression and
poor learning and memory.17 Thus, increasing its production by supplementing
with magnesium can help decrease feelings of anger, and improve learning
and memory.

Magnesium influences the production of serotonin, one of our ‘feel-good’
hormones. Low levels of magnesium have been associated with low moods,
depression and anxiety18,19 and taking a magnesium supplements for only two
weeks can already help improve moods,20 though it is highly recommended to
supplement for longer than that.

Microgenics Ultra Magnesium Raspberry contains a blend of magnesium
compounds, providing a total of 310mg elemental magnesium per dose,
and supplied in the convenience of a powder. Magnesium supports energy
production, body electrolyte balance, muscle function, bone health and
nervous system health. Magnesium helps to prevent magnesium deficiency
if dietary magnesium intake is inadequate. This naturally flavoured raspberry
powder tastes great and is also ideal for those who find it difficult to swallow
tablets or capsules.
