INGREDIENT INFORMATION

Relieve dyspepsia
Traditionally, fenugreek has been used for centuries to help reduce digestive
complaints. One component in fenugreek, called mucilage, forms a protective layer
in the stomach, and this layer helps protect the stomach from acidity and damage.
Clinical research has shown that taking fenugreek for two weeks, before two daily
meals, can help reduce the severity of heartburn.1

Relieve abdominal discomfort
Fenugreek contains a compound called Saponin diosgenin which can suppress
inflammation in the digestive tract;2 and has anti-bacterial properties. These actions
make it beneficial in diarrhoea, as diarrhoea is often caused by inflammation or
harmful bacteria in the intestinal tract.

The high fibre content in fenugreek seeds can help relieve constipation as well.3
Fibre attracts moisture and helps bulk up the stool to make it move more easily
through the digestive tract.

Fenugreek has been shown to increase bile production. When the liver is not
producing enough bile, digestion slows down, and a person can feel bloated
and full after a meal. Fenugreek can help bring relief during bloating.

Promote flow of breast milk
In both India and western Europe, fenugreek has traditionally been used to
help produce more breast milk. It has been found that fenugreek can increase
a nursing mother’s milk supply within 24 to 72 hours after first taking the herb.4
Once an adequate level of milk production is reached, most women can
discontinue the fenugreek and maintain the milk supply with adequate
breast stimulation.

It is thought that fenugreek helps improve milk production through its
phytoestrogens.5 Phytoestrogens are plant chemicals that are similar in
structure to oestrogen. The key compound diosgenin has been shown
experimentally to increase milk flow.
